I do keep a pretty extensive OneNote notebook with all of my projects and I do keep a lot on instagram as well, but I kind of miss blogs. Or at least long format posts. </p><p>Here's a temari I stitched during a stitch along. It's called "Striped Obi" and it's from Barbara Suess's book, Japanese Temari. It's roughly 29cm in circumference, stitched using a variety of perle cotton 5. It's number 14 that I've stitched since June 2023. </p><p> <br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyqdixu1j5B3gz-ahKH6Y9gmcXtadyJFgq-jfVKcAUyZTopKEnM4gDAfbCCYDNsRwAzpP-yudt5IZ4w19rdWR6aGEexk6iKI05zsWCK09mg9h4sIbcfRi00axme-5z53-CnZ6K4b0rqP2t5aai3ZtP_0C3-zUsSIYZBMxXInMtiJlGDn2FetTwPFk0wPM/s4032/20240121_164747453_iOS.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="2268" height="553" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyqdixu1j5B3gz-ahKH6Y9gmcXtadyJFgq-jfVKcAUyZTopKEnM4gDAfbCCYDNsRwAzpP-yudt5IZ4w19rdWR6aGEexk6iKI05zsWCK09mg9h4sIbcfRi00axme-5z53-CnZ6K4b0rqP2t5aai3ZtP_0C3-zUsSIYZBMxXInMtiJlGDn2FetTwPFk0wPM/w311-h553/20240121_164747453_iOS.jpg" width="311" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEHnuGwgl8FNf2dz6F3dZjPuhvxGGD5bks3ArA_9KLwGt_i0PNBbZoIIlxMrx09nmEcM33WfE7LqajpgiKWYdRy0vWxKJEADOVplBwNu4W6Aq5-ppxiZo2gHp1_6IOM0gPV2qn-gG2jHJy03_S7bLxKl8iai8jW_KE3xhjJyqT5saWEdleSRtPdXJUAKQ/s4032/20240121_164744699_iOS.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="2268" height="566" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEHnuGwgl8FNf2dz6F3dZjPuhvxGGD5bks3ArA_9KLwGt_i0PNBbZoIIlxMrx09nmEcM33WfE7LqajpgiKWYdRy0vWxKJEADOVplBwNu4W6Aq5-ppxiZo2gHp1_6IOM0gPV2qn-gG2jHJy03_S7bLxKl8iai8jW_KE3xhjJyqT5saWEdleSRtPdXJUAKQ/w318-h566/20240121_164744699_iOS.jpg" width="318" /></a></div><br /><p></p>Brenda Ahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15734755541973441763noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4473461944378377627.post-55029030000510712902018-03-15T13:48:00.001-04:002018-03-15T13:49:27.893-04:00QuiltingHi my cross stitch friends!<br />
<br />
<br />
I've been MIA for a really long time now, mostly because my cross stitch progress has been pitiful. Really, it's because I have started quilting. I bought another domain so I could do my quilt things in a blog type form as well, but then I never got around to it.<br />
<br />
I thought it might be nice to share some of my more recent projects here anyway. Maybe it'll be a xStitchHaven - Cross Stitch and Quilting Blog. :)<br />
<br />

<br />
It took me 11 months from start to finish, but totally worth it. I kept getting board and I really hate doing borders and sashing. It looks fantastic on my bed, so it was worth it. <br />
<br />
I recently finished 3 baby quilts: <br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

</tbody></table>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>Mesa Valley with Tula Pink fabric, this was in a SewSampler box (the colored prints & pattern). I love how this turned out and part of me didn't want to give it away!<br />

<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
An Elizabeth Hartman pattern again, using Reef fabrics, this was also in a Sew Sampler box. <br />
<br />
I also made two Christmas quilts I just couldn't part with:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/39194898932/in/album-72157690464692755/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="ChristmasQuilt_20171222_24.jpg"><img alt="ChristmasQuilt_20171222_24.jpg" height="640" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4639/39194898932_08df9a1b99_z.jpg" width="427" /></a></div>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<br />
I made this pattern up using 2 packages of charm squares in Juniper Berry by Basic Grey. I really love all their Christmas collections and have already preordered their 2018 one.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/38347551075/in/album-72157690464692755/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="ChristmasQuilt_20171222_6.jpg"><img alt="ChristmasQuilt_20171222_6.jpg" height="640" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4637/38347551075_75d57abff2_z.jpg" width="427" /></a></div>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
This was using "Jolly Bars" (5"x10" precuts) in Merry Berry fabric. I love love love this. It's my favorite of the two. I could not part with it though it's original purpose was a Christmas present.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/38347564905/in/album-72157690464692755/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="ChristmasQuilt_20171222_20.jpg"><img alt="ChristmasQuilt_20171222_20.jpg" height="427" src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4592/38347564905_b699b3cbe8_z.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
My favorite is how I quilted it, spirals in a gold thread called "Vegas Gold". Swoon. Drool. LOVE. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I started quilting when I moved to North Carolina just over 2.5 years ago. It's very addicting, just like cross stitch it, but I find (with the exceptions of course) that I finish projects so much faster. It's a more expensive hobby but the results are so much sooner. I've been dragged into the community full force! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I took a picture framing course last spring and managed to frame about 15 things. 5 or so were cross stitch pieces that had been hanging out in my "finished" drawer. I'll have to dig up some pictures. Since then, I've finished 4 more things to frame. :D </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Also, this past fall, I took a photography class. I've been putting that to use in my finished quilts photos. I'm really loving how everything is turning out and how everything is so connected. :) </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Anything new up with you lovely readers? Am I the only one who moves form hobby to hobby?</div>

I'm back with my monthly update. I think monthly updates are working much better for me now. I tried to get it in around the 15th, but this month has been a bit crazy (aren't they all?)<br />
<br />
Anyways, it's May[nia] and I decided to start 2 new projects! Go me! :)<br />
<br />
First is Little House Needleworks' Gingerbread(wo)man. If you've been here for... 2 years, you'll know I made this for my husband in 2014 with plans to make one for myself as well. I'm finally getting around to starting mine! Here's my progress:<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/27123920812/in/album-72157648344232199/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="DSC_0926-10"><img alt="DSC_0926-10" height="333" src="https://c5.staticflickr.com/8/7522/27123920812_ddd6154588.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<br />
I think it's coming along nicely. I really only work on it when I don't feel like doing something that requires my Lowery. We're going back to Pittsburgh for a week soon so I'll probably bring that with me. <br />
<br />
My first start (gingerbreadman was actually the second one, I just talked about it first) was my first MIRA! YAY!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/27151701511/in/album-72157648344232199/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="DSC_0918-5"><img alt="DSC_0918-5" height="333" src="https://c8.staticflickr.com/8/7461/27151701511_6b369df37b.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<br />
It's Roses of Provence. I love love love the colors. My only complaint is there's a lot of color changes. I think I might learn to park for this lady... thoughts? Is she worth it? Should I keep up with my cross country stitching of her? I'm torn on it. (don't forget you can click the picture and zoom in) It's on a very light version of Rose Petals from Crafty Kitten (It was an opps I got on her facebook page several years ago).<br />
<br />
I did find this cute little thread holder at Walmart:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/27123916642/in/album-72157648344232199/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="DSC_0920-6"><img alt="DSC_0920-6" height="333" src="https://c3.staticflickr.com/8/7234/27123916642_6fea08af34.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<br />
It only holds her floss right now. Adorable! Do you see the 7 skeins of white for her dress?!?!<br />
<br />
I worked a bit on my Plum Pudding:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/26945448610/in/album-72157648344232199/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="DSC_0923-8"><img alt="DSC_0923-8" height="333" src="https://c3.staticflickr.com/8/7011/26945448610_afbe6dd125.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/27151714621/in/album-72157648344232199/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="DSC_0925-9"><img alt="DSC_0925-9" height="333" src="https://c6.staticflickr.com/8/7219/27151714621_7cd51270b8.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
Funny story (not really) when I took it out to work on it there was a GIANT SPIDER on it. Even though I keep it "safe" in a pillow case when I'm not working on it. SOOOOO I decided I needed a better storage thing for it, so I whipped this guy up:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/27151707531/in/album-72157648344232199/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="DSC_0922-7"><img alt="DSC_0922-7" height="333" src="https://c4.staticflickr.com/8/7400/27151707531_6211c22a2a.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
It's lined in flannel (because that's all I had that was large enough). It fits my 17x17 qsnap which was the point. Hopefully no more spiders on my work. UGH. *shudders*<br />
<br />
I barely worked on Passport:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/27151697961/in/album-72157648344232199/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="DSC_0917-4"><img alt="DSC_0917-4" height="333" src="https://c2.staticflickr.com/8/7502/27151697961_e45c68623b.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<br />
I did added some stitches and backstitching to this freebie:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/27151693531/in/album-72157648344232199/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="DSC_0915-3"><img alt="DSC_0915-3" height="333" src="https://c4.staticflickr.com/8/7667/27151693531_685a0e54c6.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
I think I might have shown this before, but it's my "current" WIPs basket. I have more that I don't consider to be UFOs but aren't "current" WIPs either.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/26945434100/in/album-72157648344232199/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="DSC_0914-2"><img alt="DSC_0914-2" height="333" src="https://c5.staticflickr.com/8/7250/26945434100_a287097954.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
Annnnd last but not least, y'all might remember the stitch along back in 2014 for the Frosted Pumpkin's Halloween Town? Well, I hated part 3 with the bakery so I just lost all interest. I finally recharted the bakery into a house and am making some progress:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/27123911152/in/album-72157648344232199/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="DSC_0911-1"><img alt="DSC_0911-1" height="333" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/8/7697/27123911152_160477ac82.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
I love the color changes (like my teal & purple houses). Do you see the cat I added?!?! I think I'm going to give him some eyes, maybe some whiskers too! I'm still figuring out the house... and there was a witch charted, but I kinda don't want to stitch her either, so it's still a work in progress ... charting as I go along!<br />
<br />
<br />
OOOOOOOOh and I have an FFO! I know my friend doesn't read my blog so I feel like I can show this even though I haven't given it to her yet (excuse the glare at the framing shop):<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/27213065186/in/dateposted/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="20160507_123952"><img alt="20160507_123952" height="500" src="https://c3.staticflickr.com/8/7657/27213065186_a3dbcfd13a.jpg" width="281" /></a></div>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<br />
I'm so pleased with how it turned out! And it was super reasonably priced. I'm kinda in love with it. I'll totally be taking more projects to this framing shop. I think they did an excellent job.<br />
<br />
I bought some stash, butttttt what I bought is for my mom and I'm fairly sure she <i>does</i> read my blog, so I'm not going to spoil it! Goal is a September finish (her birthday is in Sept) but I want to finish one WIP (a decently sized one... like Halloween Town) before I work on that so it could get pushed to Christmas... not totally sure yet. I feel like I need to find some "manly" patterns and make something for my dad... any suggestions!?<br />
<br />
How's everyone's May been? Productive I hope! Brenda Ahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15734755541973441763noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4473461944378377627.post-15727761702965556512016-04-12T09:43:00.001-04:002016-04-12T09:43:37.137-04:00Spring updates!Hi all! Today is a gray and rainy day, but yesterday the sun was shining so I managed to take some decent pictures! <br />
<br />
I guess I've been busy since my last update (the pictures tell me so) but I don't feel like I've had much stitching time. We've just been so busy! My husband is away for work this week, so last night I made dinner, did my nails, watched Mr Selfridge & stitched. Not all at the same time clearly, but I did get some more progress on Plum Pudding then you'll see below. Not a ton, but I finished another motif. <br />
<br />
First up is <a href="https://www.thefrostedpumpkinstitchery.com/collections/clubs/products/2016-the-pumpkin-passport-pdf-cross-stitch-pattern" target="_blank">The Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery's Pumpkin Passport</a>:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/26362662366/in/photostream/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="cross_stitch-18-2"><img alt="cross_stitch-18-2" height="333" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1637/26362662366_de3ec2e55a.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<br />
and slightly closer:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/26362661886/in/photostream/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="cross_stitch-19-3"><img alt="cross_stitch-19-3" height="333" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1717/26362661886_7a04628de6.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<br />
It's cute, but I get bored working on it. I did see someone on Facebook omit some of the busy-ness and I liked that a whole lot more, so I might do the same thing. <br />
<br />
I can't remember how far I was on the Peacock last time, but I think I filled in a bit more of the flower since last time:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/26362661086/in/photostream/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="cross_stitch-21-5"><img alt="cross_stitch-21-5" height="333" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1634/26362661086_1bbb42ef62.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<br />
It's a <a href="http://www.123stitch.com/item/Dimensions-Blue-Peacock-Gold-Collection-Petites-Cross-Stitch-Kit/K70-65146" target="_blank">Dimensions Gold kit</a>, so there are tons of blended threads and fractional stitches. It's going to look amazing when it's done. <br />
<br />
I also started a freebie by Durene Jones (you can find it <a href="https://www.facebook.com/Durene-Jones-Cross-Stitch-1542440619342280/photos/?tab=album&album_id=1670343693218638" target="_blank">here</a>). I was in a spring mood, I was hoping to finish by Easter but that didn't happen.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/26296218362/in/photostream/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="cross_stitch-20-4"><img alt="cross_stitch-20-4" height="333" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1583/26296218362_79c6f20276.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<br />
It's super cute and Durene has so many cute free patterns. She releases new ones every Friday on her <a href="https://www.facebook.com/Durene-Jones-Cross-Stitch-1542440619342280/timeline" target="_blank">facebook</a>. I'm stitching it over 2 on 28 ct fabric that I had in my stash. It's a pale blue.<br />
<br />
Last but not least, Glendon Place's Plum Pudding:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/26388555725/in/photostream/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="cross_stitch-16-1"><img alt="cross_stitch-16-1" height="378" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1496/26388555725_b9ee70750c.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<br />
My goal for this past weekend was to finish the dark purple petals in the center, which I did manage to do! It's on 28 ct antique white fabric with the called for dinky dye threads.<br />
<br />
Now I'm going around in a circle and trying it that way. I think I should start in the middle of a pattern instead of the top left, it's more gratifying to me to see it take shape that way. <br />
<br />
I ordered Feburary's Fabric of the Month from <a href="http://www.craftykitten.co.uk/" target="_blank">Crafty Kitten</a> for my <a href="http://glendonplace.net/shop/catalog/generalyear-around/cherries-jubilee/" target="_blank">Cherries Jubilee</a> pattern and it came this past week!!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/26388553395/in/photostream/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="cross_stitch-26-7"><img alt="cross_stitch-26-7" height="333" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1570/26388553395_b805e0c61e.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<br />
I didn't do a floss toss (I forgot) but one of my favorite things about Crafty Kitten is that she'll do custom sizes. This is a 20 x 20" cashel linen. I think it'll look awesome. <br />
<br />
I also received a RAK from a friend in CO (no blog though). <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/26296217092/in/photostream/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="cross_stitch-24-6"><img alt="cross_stitch-24-6" height="500" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1617/26296217092_d574daa551.jpg" width="333" /></a></div>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<br />
I love cats AND she noted that I could probably finish it in one evening which is perfect for my attention span! Oh how she knows me well. It even came with fabric and the trim!<br />
<br />
How's everyone's spring starting? Getting lots of stitching or is it slowing down with the warmer weather?Brenda Ahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15734755541973441763noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4473461944378377627.post-2865690839363095112016-03-17T11:42:00.000-04:002016-03-17T11:42:45.068-04:00March UpdateFirst off, Happy St Patrick's Day! I'm not Irish (or maybe I am for just today?) but I do have a table cloth that's got clovers on it, so I totally count that as holiday decor!<br />
<br />
I haven't gotten much stitching done recently honestly. We've been busy making friends and going to the gym. Tonight we're headed out to a Meetup.com event for board games. It's being held at a local cider place. Maybe we'll make some friends there.<br />
<br />
I finished the R I was working on for a friends wedding. I've just charted their last name for below, I'm not sure how I want to represent the date yet though.. write out the month or just use numbers? Thought?<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/25833874786/in/dateposted/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Cross_Stitch-11-1"><img alt="Cross_Stitch-11-1" height="333" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1673/25833874786_caf55cb55d.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
I started the <a href="http://www.123stitch.com/item/Dimensions-Blue-Peacock-Gold-Collection-Petites-Cross-Stitch-Kit/K70-65146" target="_blank">Dimensions Peacock kit</a> (sorry it's sideways):<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/25764801771/in/photostream/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Cross_Stitch-13-1"><img alt="Cross_Stitch-13-1" height="333" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1599/25764801771_93ba63cb25.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<br />
I switched out the fabric for a sky crystal linen that was a gift a Christmas or two ago:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/25559195260/in/photostream/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Cross_Stitch-12-1"><img alt="Cross_Stitch-12-1" height="500" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1672/25559195260_b757dfc546.jpg" width="333" /></a></div>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<br />
I won't have to do all the background now! Which also means I'll have a ton of teal/blue thread left. <br />
<br />
I also pulled out my Glendon Place Tiramisu pattern for a few nights: <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/25738957312/in/photostream/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Cross_Stitch-8-1"><img alt="Cross_Stitch-8-1" height="333" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1522/25738957312_c843bf0604.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<br />
It prompted me to order some fabric form <a href="http://www.craftykitten.co.uk/hand-dyed-linens-17-c.asp" target="_blank">CraftyKitten</a> for the Cherries Jubilee pattern too (Tiramisu is also on a CraftyKitten piece, Plum Pudding is not) ... I still haven't finished one but I'm already planning on the third one to start. I make a mistake and it ticks me off so I stop stitching on them. Mostly because I have to fix the mistake in these patterns since they are so symmetrical. <br />
<br />
Side note, I hate scroll frames. They just don't have enough tension in my opinion, but I did do some digging and trying different things and determined the best way for me to get tension was to do an S type roll, where it's over the top on the top and goes under on the bottom. I found the tension much better that way. Does anyone else have any suggestions for tension?! I have two of these frames that I never use because of the tension...<br />
<br />
I also bought a magnifier/light! So here's a picture of my stitchy spot:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/25738960392/in/photostream/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Cross_Stitch-15-1"><img alt="Cross_Stitch-15-1" height="500" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1441/25738960392_2f99fce3fa.jpg" width="333" /></a></div>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<br />
You can see my <a href="http://www.sewandso.co.uk/Products/Lowery-Workstand-with-Side-Clamp---STAINLESS-STEEL__LOY-SS1.aspx" target="_blank">Lowery frame</a> and my new light. It's great, I tried 3 other magnifiers before I bit the bullet and ordered <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0052OTB6S?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s01" target="_blank">this one</a>. It's not the most attractive thing ever, but it allowed me to work on my Ink Circles Damask Square pattern so much more easily!<br />
<br />
I also made those pillows this past month! They even have zippers. They go well with our sofa's blue velvet pillows that we had bought at Tuesday Mornings to go with the carpet we are now using in our living room. New place meant we had to rearrange our carpets to fit different spaces, our blue one is our largest and no longer fits in any of the bedrooms. I'm planning to make two more pillow covers at some point. I still need to buy two more pillows.<br />
<br />
I worked on my <a href="http://www.123stitch.com/item/Ink-Circles-Damask-Square-Cross-Stitch-Pattern/13-2386" target="_blank">Damask Square</a> yesterday, it's on 40 ct crystal <a href="http://www.silkweaverfabrics.com/" target="_blank">silkweavers</a> fabric with Peacock Weeks Dye Works floss (1 over 2):<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/25860203355/in/dateposted/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="untitled-2-1"><img alt="untitled-2-1" height="333" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1672/25860203355_6a04e769d0.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<br />
I've decided I love stitching with just one strand of thread, there's no worries about laying the threads right, they don't get tangled! It's so much easier with the magnifier though. I'm still young, but I'd like to be able to still see 40 years from now thanks! I also pulled out a hoop to use last night for this and I remembered why I hate hoops, those marks! It was only in the hoop for like an hour but left a nice ring... I'm going to have to find more random pieces of my q-snaps for this... I bought a 14in one but it's really just way too big. I should have bought another 9x9 instead.<br />
<br />
How's everyone elses' stitching been going!? Is everyone ready for Spring? I sure am!Brenda Ahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15734755541973441763noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4473461944378377627.post-35475558020091146122016-02-16T14:11:00.000-05:002016-02-16T14:11:32.460-05:00Stitchy Project Bag!Hi ya'll! Probably didn't expect to see me back so soon. :) I have a couple things to show you (instead of my usual 0 progress).<br />
<br />
First off is some stitchy progress: <br />
<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/24977743961/in/dateposted/" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="untitled-1129-1"><img alt="untitled-1129-1" height="333" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1624/24977743961_fe552366e8.jpg" width="500" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: #0000ee;"><u>Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery - <span style="color: #0000ee;"><u>Pumpkin Passport</u></span></u></span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/24444195963/in/photostream/" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="untitled-1130-7"><img alt="untitled-1130-7" height="333" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1587/24444195963_a59816ab07.jpg" width="500" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: #0000ee;"><u>Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery - <span style="color: #0000ee;"><u>Pumpkin Passport</u></span></u></span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<br />
I made a few changes to the pattern, nothing too serious though. I changed the girls hair to some Weeks Dye Works cocoa (I think) to match my own a bit better, I'm also a fan of purple so the shirt needed to be updated. I also think I'm going to make the bridge gray instead of the "sand-ish" color that is charted and maybe use con krenik in the Eiffel Tower. <br />
<br />
I'm still behind, but that's okay it's not a contest and I have alllll year. :)<br />
<br />
Also, I made that navy Q-Snap cover! It was my first one, my mom made the cream-ish ones for me, but I needed a weird size for the Pumpkin Passport project. I think it turned out super well, I'm going to have to make more of them! <br />
<br />
I have a friend getting married the first weekend of June so I'm stitching their initial:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/25071064515/in/photostream/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="untitled-1125-3"><img alt="untitled-1125-3" height="333" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1656/25071064515_c8ff49e474.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<br />
I'll add their last name and date too at the bottom I think. I love how it's turning out. This is the second time I've used this alphabet and I still think I need to make one for myself.... One of these days. <br />
<br />
I saw these cute project bags on a Facebook group and they were selling for $45! I like to spend money on stitchy things, but that was a little steep so I decided to try my hand at making one. While it's not perfect, I actually like my version better than the example I was working from (my zipper is hidden, quilted the front in a diamond pattern and added a binding all the way around are just a few of the things that I added). <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/24703422669/in/photostream/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="untitled-1126-4"><img alt="untitled-1126-4" height="333" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1670/24703422669_19e5138870.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/24775452550/in/photostream/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="untitled-1121-1"><img alt="untitled-1121-1" height="500" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1475/24775452550_bbec059fc3.jpg" width="333" /></a></div>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/24952933762/in/photostream/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="untitled-1123-2"><img alt="untitled-1123-2" height="333" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1590/24952933762_a0310ee22a.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<br />
I'm super excited about how it turned out. You can see that there's a pocket for your scissors (I added interfacing so it would hold up to throwing your scissors in there) along with the pattern and floss. The other side is for my q-snaps. It's currently holding an 6x9 frame. I have a couple changes I'd like to make for my next attempt (including buying a rotary cutter so I can cut in a straight line...). I'm definitely going to make another one and I'm debating making a tutorial as well. I'm by no means an expert but it was really not very difficult, and it only took two evenings (or prob a Saturday afternoon). Would you be interested in a tutorial? <br />
<br />
Thoughts? Would you spend $45 for a stitchy project bag or would you rather make it yourself?!Brenda Ahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15734755541973441763noreply@blogger.com16tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4473461944378377627.post-79728117915341029252016-01-29T16:10:00.001-05:002016-01-29T16:10:18.952-05:002016 UpdatesHi all! It's been a long time again. I actually moved from PA to NC over Christmas so it's been pretty hectic again. We're getting settled in but we're not fully unpacked. We still need to buy some master bedroom furniture but I'm being picky and want to find something perfect which means all of our clothes are living in laundry baskets basically... Anyways, you're here for some stitching updates!<br />
<br />
I managed to finish the Cafe Latte that I was working on for my last post:<br />
<br />

<br />
I now have three of them done, but only two on this piece of fabric:<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/24598694011/in/album-72157648344232199/" title="20151121_164427-1"><img alt="20151121_164427-1" height="281" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1585/24598694011_114527f3aa.jpg" width="500" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<br />
I also finished stitching this ornament for a friends daughter, but I haven't finished it into an ornament yet (I'm such a slacker):<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/24692201665/in/album-72157648344232199/" title="20151124_184814-1"><img alt="20151124_184814-1" height="500" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1531/24692201665_11a0b310df.jpg" width="281" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<br />
I doubt she'll even remember (Olivia is 3) that she got it after Christmas was over. <br />
<br />
I've worked on Plum Pudding a bit:<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/24065318183/in/album-72157648344232199/" title="IMG_20151129_125824-1"><img alt="IMG_20151129_125824-1" height="500" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1493/24065318183_9acbc2164c.jpg" width="375" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/24063996644/in/album-72157648344232199/" title="20160116_112929-1"><img alt="20160116_112929-1" height="281" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1459/24063996644_c30b637227.jpg" width="500" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<br />
It's coming along slowly. I get super frustrated every time the frog comes around on this one since you have to fix it instead of fudging it. I think I goofed up somewhere so it got put away until it calls my name again. I do want to finish it, I love it so. I'm more of a smalls person though. I don't like things to take too long. ;) <br />
<br />
I also finished this Lizzie Kate design:<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/24574377322/in/album-72157648344232199/" title="IMG_20160118_195241-1"><img alt="IMG_20160118_195241-1" height="500" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1627/24574377322_18cf355279.jpg" width="375" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<br />
I started it back in 2015, but I have stitchers' ADD for sure. <br />
<br />
<br />
I started the Frosted Pumpkin's Passport project:<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/24396631360/in/album-72157648344232199/" title="20160124_205502-1"><img alt="20160124_205502-1" height="281" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1604/24396631360_191f8a73ba.jpg" width="500" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<br />
It's super cute so far. I love the sparkly fabric I chose (32 count raw/gold Belfast). I convinced two of my friends to do it as well. One of them has never cross stitched before, I think we're going to Skype and stitch together. :) <br />
<br />
I also have a little bit of stash, my husband got me a gift card to 123stitch:<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/24324468079/in/album-72157648344232199/" title="20160129_105808-1"><img alt="20160129_105808-1" height="281" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1545/24324468079_4f28006b20.jpg" width="500" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<br />
I didn't want to go crazy so I just got a couple things. I'm itching to start that peacock kit (with a linen instead of the aida).<br />
<br />
What's everyone else been up too??<br />
<br />Brenda Ahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15734755541973441763noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4473461944378377627.post-51713061835867590712015-11-11T07:22:00.001-05:002015-11-11T07:22:32.471-05:00Way too long! OMG guys, it's been so long! I really didn't mean to be absent for... months. I started a new (great) job in February and for awhile it was just so busy that when I got home the last thing I wanted to do was jump on the computer and write a blog post. Or check email. Or Facebook. Or anything really. It's really calmed down since then, either I know more, or it's just not as busy, Or a combo of both, any which way I'm back for an update today at least.<br />
<br />
I'm in the process of packing up the townhouse that my husband and I have been living in since 2007 (for him, 2009 for me) so we can move to sunny North Carolina! We are both keeping our jobs and will be work from home employees. The hubby has been since he got his new job in August, but it'll be a first for me. I'm excited and sad at the same time!! We don't have an official move in date yet (the apartment we're renting is still being built) but I'm thinking by this time next month we'll be North Carolina residents!<br />
<br />
Anyways, you read my blog for cross stitch news! I had been so busy with work that I really haven't gotten much done. :( I did finish a couple things, and start a few others and leave some behind in the dust. You all know how it is!<br />
<br />
Most recent first (since that's what I can remember!)<br />
<br />
I just started my third design in Angel Stitchin's ... coffee series, Cafe Latte:<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/22745686500/in/dateposted/" title="20151108_150504-1"><img src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5655/22745686500_4e024ffe16_z.jpg" width="457" height="640" alt="20151108_150504-1"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script><br />
<br />
That means I also finished two, Hot Cocoa & Espresso, but I'm going to have to dig up the pictures somewhere... they are all packed now.<br />
<br />
I also finished this little ornament from one of the Just Cross Stitch Ornament editions:<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/22310974644/in/photostream/" title="20151101_210520-1"><img src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5795/22310974644_f644833137_z.jpg" width="640" height="360" alt="20151101_210520-1"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script><br />
<br />
And this little lady was a freebie on Durene Jones' Facebook page in October:<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/22312556713/in/photostream/" title="20151025_222514-1"><img src="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/647/22312556713_f4f6683422_z.jpg" width="457" height="640" alt="20151025_222514-1"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script><br />
<br />
I finally finished this guy too (I started back in.. 2013 I think):<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/22944854271/in/photostream/" title="20150908_190122-3"><img src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5628/22944854271_3387eda5a9_z.jpg" width="458" height="640" alt="20150908_190122-3"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script><br />
<br />
I started Glendon Places' Friendship Compass (and then stopped, I have ADD ...):<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/22907730906/in/photostream/" title="20150913_150025-4"><img src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5765/22907730906_3e2031152b_z.jpg" width="640" height="360" alt="20150913_150025-4"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script><br />
<br />
I started Damask Square by Ink Circles (on 40 count, my eyes!):<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/22859958195/in/photostream/" title="20150704_173153"><img src="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/758/22859958195_743e0a6391_z.jpg" width="360" height="640" alt="20150704_173153"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script><br />
<br />
And I did work on my Plum Pudding by Glendon Place, there's just no way I'll get it done for the SAL that I was hosting. I'm still going to draw for the winner though! Sorry I poofed and didn't have regular check ins. <br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/18088019559/in/photostream/" title="Cross Stitch_20150530_232-1"><img src="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8771/18088019559_f459a848db_z.jpg" width="640" height="427" alt="Cross Stitch_20150530_232-1"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script><br />
<br />
I think there are a few more things sprinkled in but I can't track down pictures right now. :) I'll update when we move and I find them again :) <br />
<br />
How is everyone else's year been? It's almost over, it's gone way too fast! Brenda Ahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15734755541973441763noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4473461944378377627.post-15002718249727508962015-05-30T14:13:00.003-04:002015-05-30T14:13:41.621-04:00May UpdateI haven't been super busy but I have managed two more finishes for 2015 as well as working on my Glendon Place Plum Pudding & a new Ink Circles design. Hopefully no one minds my switch to a once a month update. I just can't find time to update every week anymore.<br />
<br />
Here are my two finishes:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/18274257315" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Cross Stitch_20150530_242-1 by xStitchHaven, on Flickr"><img alt="Cross Stitch_20150530_242-1" height="640" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/522/18274257315_5d50820b10_z.jpg" width="427" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/18270464562" title="Cross Stitch_20150530_244-1 by xStitchHaven, on Flickr"><img alt="Cross Stitch_20150530_244-1" height="427" src="https://c4.staticflickr.com/8/7729/18270464562_538fd64d24_z.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
<br />
I have two more in the series to compete. I'm unsure if I will want to frame them separately or all together in one frame, but I'm planning to find a spot for them in the kitchen. <br />
<br />
<br />
Here's my new start, Damask Square by Ink Circles:<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/18086441098" title="Cross Stitch_20150530_238-1 by xStitchHaven, on Flickr"><img alt="Cross Stitch_20150530_238-1" height="427" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/9/8832/18086441098_d7055466b6_z.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
It's on 40count sparkly fabric from SilkWeavers with Peacock floss from Weeks Dyed Works. It's sooooooo tiny I can only work on it in good light, with my reading glasses on for short periods of time, but it's going to look so great when it's done. I'm almost a fourth of the way done. :)<br />
<br />
<br />
And last but not least, Plum Pudding update:<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/18088019559" title="Cross Stitch_20150530_232-1 by xStitchHaven, on Flickr"><img alt="Cross Stitch_20150530_232-1" height="427" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/9/8771/18088019559_f459a848db_z.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/18088014839" title="Cross Stitch_20150530_236-1 by xStitchHaven, on Flickr"><img alt="Cross Stitch_20150530_236-1" height="427" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/429/18088014839_ab537bc1ce_z.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
What's everyone else working on? Have any bug summer stitching plans??Brenda Ahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15734755541973441763noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4473461944378377627.post-51320960006081188892015-04-21T19:44:00.001-04:002015-04-21T19:44:33.724-04:00Glendon Place Stitch Along Check InSorry guys for being MIA lately. I started a new job and it's been taking up more time than the old one. I've still been stitching and even finished a piece! I'll eventually post about it, but I just wanted to get this quick update out.<br />
<br />
<br />
Here's where I'm at with my Glendon Place Plum Pudding:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
It's coming along slowly, but then again I had put it away for awhile to work on other projects.<br />
<br />

Thanks everyone for entering!!Brenda Ahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15734755541973441763noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4473461944378377627.post-38113830461008298772015-02-18T12:04:00.000-05:002015-02-18T12:04:39.977-05:00Small UpdateI really didn't get any stitching done in the past two weeks. I quit my job, went on a week vacation, then started a new job, so I've been pretty busy. I was planning to finish this little Lizzie Kate before Valentine's Day but it didn't quite work out that way, no rush. It'll just be early for next year!<br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/16514229436" title="Cross Stitch_20150215_223-1 by xStitchHaven, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7328/16514229436_da57b79b43_z.jpg" width="640" height="427" alt="Cross Stitch_20150215_223-1"></a><br />
<br />
I changed up all of the colors. I only have one of the called for colors (purple haze, which I haven't even used yet). I'm using a selection of Cosmo floss, Weeks Dye Works and Sampler Threads from stash. I think it's turning out super cute. It's being completed on a mystery piece of linen from my stash. I did another Lizzie Kate with it as well, the Halloween piece from October. It's really not my favorite I've decided. The threads are pretty "wiggly" and it's difficult to keep the tension the same. I prefer even weaves over the linens, depending on the project of course!<br />
<br />
Speaking of fabrics, my Quarterly Silkweavers Fabric of the Month came!!! They have about a million different ways to sign up for their fabrics, I chose the "classics" line in either line/evenweave counts higher than 28 for 3 13x18 pieces per quarter. And here's my first quarter selections that they sent:<br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/16515832166" title="Cross Stitch_20150215_231-1 by xStitchHaven, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7356/16515832166_d6ffb321c3_z.jpg" width="640" height="427" alt="Cross Stitch_20150215_231-1"></a><br />
<br />
It was extremely difficult to get all of the colors to show up, the one one the left is actually pink-ish, it's called "Brandied Pears" the blue is a solo color (which means it's not in their regular line up) and the tan one is "Moon Dust". They are all crystal newcastle linens (40 count) which I've never used, but it could be fun to stitch with! I really love their classics line because the shading is so slight on them. I have found that I don't really like the fabrics that have a tie dyed look. Just my opinion. I will have 3 more shipments of this, I decided that it was better on my wallet just to do it 4 times a year. I still get fun new colors though! <br />
<br />
What's your favorite type of fabric to use? Leave your answers in the comments!!!<br />
<br />
PS don't forget to enter my <a href="http://www.xstitchhaven.com/2015/02/sweepstakes-time.html">sweepstakes</a>! That makes two for January. It would be totally awesome if I could get two done a month. I'm not holding my breath though!<br />
<br />
Here's Winter Wishes by Lizzie Kate<br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/16234985067" title="Cross Stitch_20150201_208-1-2 by xStitchHaven, on Flickr"><img alt="Cross Stitch_20150201_208-1-2" height="427" src="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8598/16234985067_d998aa0b14_z.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/16234955827" title="Cross Stitch_20150201_212-1 by xStitchHaven, on Flickr"><img alt="Cross Stitch_20150201_212-1" height="640" src="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8585/16234955827_65485bfa83_z.jpg" width="427" /></a><br />
<br />
I'm quite pleased with how it turned out. I think it's quite darling! I didn't buy the "official" snowflake charm, which was silver. I instead opted to buy this Mill Hill set which had 4 charms. I think it looks just as cute. I also changed the smoke from the blue charted to gray, made more sense to me. None of the colors were the called for ones, I just kinda went with what I had in my stash. :) <br />
<br />
I don't think I did any work on the Plum Pudding, but here it is anyway, I know you all love it as much as I do. ;) <br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/16233465920" title="Cross Stitch_20150201_214-1 by xStitchHaven, on Flickr"><img alt="Cross Stitch_20150201_214-1" height="427" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7340/16233465920_e439c7267a_z.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
And a closeup:<br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/16234957107" title="Cross Stitch_20150201_216-1 by xStitchHaven, on Flickr"><img alt="Cross Stitch_20150201_216-1" height="640" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7332/16234957107_7504250d79_z.jpg" width="427" /></a><br />
<br />
My goal is one page every two months, and I'm very very close to finishing the first page. :) You can see the darkest purple petal in the lower right hand corner, I've almost reached the center of the design with that motif. It seems to be going more quickly than my Tiramisu was. Not sure why. <br />
<br />
I bought these both on eBay (photo credit to Glendon Place): <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://glendonplace.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/GP-195-Baked-Alaska-600.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://glendonplace.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/GP-195-Baked-Alaska-600.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Baked Alaska<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://glendonplace.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/GP-187-Cherries-Jubilee-600.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://glendonplace.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/GP-187-Cherries-Jubilee-600.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Cherries Jubilee<br />
<br />
I got both of them with shipping for $14. I'm so excited about that. I think I'm going to change the Baked Alaska colors to shades of teal instead of the blues charted. And Cherries Jubilee I'm going to keep the same. Someday. After I finish Plum Pudding & Tiramisu. :D<br />
<br />
I also managed to do some more hardanger. Not much, but I did my first cutting!!! It's more work to hide those stupid threads than I thought it would be.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/16233210298" title="Cross Stitch_20150201_205-1 by xStitchHaven, on Flickr"><img alt="Cross Stitch_20150201_205-1" height="427" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7427/16233210298_f6aac933a8_z.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
I practiced in the upper left corner, I have a bunch of cutting to do in the diamond shaped one on the right. I'm still practicing before using the new threads I bought. I also think I want to work on 25 count instead of the 28 I'm currently using. It's a bit too small in my opinion for the size threads I have. I think I've got some 25 count hiding around here somewhere.<br />
<br />
That's it for this week! Hoping everyone had a wonderful January and that February will treat you well! <br />
<br />
PS I'm planning a giveaway for passing my 1 year blog anniversary AND for hitting 750 followers on instagram (xstitchhaven). I'm still sorting out what's in the package. Stay tuned! <br />

Purples!Hi all! This should be a pretty short update. I have not gotten much stitching done this past week because my wrists/hands have been hurting. This has happened before, so I'm not terribly concerned about it, but it is putting a damper on my stitching abilities. I think I might have a touch of carpel tunnel, but not really because my pinky fingers are affected as is my entire hand. I am not sure, maybe it the two handed stitching. It is a bit different on my wrists. If it persists I'll go to the doctor, but hopefully it goes away soon because my husband and I are planning a getaway to Texas in two weeks! We are both quite tired of the weather and are looking forward to some sunny skies. We've never been to Texas so I'm looking forward to adding a new state to our list!<br />
<br />
Anyways, to the stitching!<br />
<br />
I worked on Plum Pudding some more. Most of this was done on Sunday afternoon. I am almost the entire way through a page. I did overlap onto the next one if the motif did. That whole variegated thread thing!<br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/16196560538" title="Cross Stitch_20150127_185-1 by xStitchHaven, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7330/16196560538_d7989ec8de_z.jpg" width="640" height="427" alt="Cross Stitch_20150127_185-1"></a><br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/16196780210" title="Cross Stitch_20150127_187-1 by xStitchHaven, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7442/16196780210_58d073ff12_z.jpg" width="640" height="427" alt="Cross Stitch_20150127_187-1"></a><br />
<br />
And I worked on my Lizzie Kate Winter Wishes:<br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/16196780830" title="Cross Stitch_20150127_189-1 by xStitchHaven, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8612/16196780830_fb24f5a541_z.jpg" width="640" height="427" alt="Cross Stitch_20150127_189-1"></a><br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/16358212646" title="Cross Stitch_20150127_190-1 by xStitchHaven, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8602/16358212646_72603158e0_z.jpg" width="640" height="427" alt="Cross Stitch_20150127_190-1"></a><br />
<br />
That's pretty much everything. I told you it was a slow week! Until next time! <br />

<br />
I won a Little House Needlework pattern from CJ over at <a href="http://www.tea-n-stitches.blogspot.com/">Tea-n-Stitches! </a>I think the card is handmade too, which is totally awesome! <br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/15698747223" title="Cross Stitch_20150118_161-1 by xStitchHaven, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8630/15698747223_4a5ac0849a_z.jpg" width="640" height="427" alt="Cross Stitch_20150118_161-1"></a><br />
<br />
I also had $50 to spend over at 123stitch so I picked up the following:<br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/16317766752" title="Cross Stitch_20150118_183-1 by xStitchHaven, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7525/16317766752_fa30b5feb0_z.jpg" width="640" height="427" alt="Cross Stitch_20150118_183-1"></a><br />
<br />
Watercolors and Wildflowers cottons for some hardanger, the thinner strands look like they could be used for cross stitch too. Has anyone used them?!? The Watercolors seem to be thicker than the DMC pearl #5, maybe I need to pick up some smaller count fabric? I don't know, I'm still trying to figure this hardanger thing out! <br />
<br />
Some cute valentines day charts (the other one was out of stock, hopefully it'll come later this week), black anchor, a heart button for a different chart as well as some snowflake charms.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/15698753533" title="Cross Stitch_20150118_179-1 by xStitchHaven, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7562/15698753533_c89eb10620_z.jpg" width="640" height="427" alt="Cross Stitch_20150118_179-1"></a><br />
<br />
This Weeks Dye Works fabric was on clearance too: <br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/16316849611" title="Cross Stitch_20150118_181-1 by xStitchHaven, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8621/16316849611_a5b6f641ac_z.jpg" width="640" height="427" alt="Cross Stitch_20150118_181-1"></a><br />
<br />
Then The Drawn Thread released some new patterns that I just had to have: <br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/16292692246" title="Cross Stitch_20150118_163-1 by xStitchHaven, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8612/16292692246_ec81eb98d3_z.jpg" width="640" height="427" alt="Cross Stitch_20150118_163-1"></a><br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/16131077538" title="Cross Stitch_20150118_166-1 by xStitchHaven, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7499/16131077538_6b52562792_z.jpg" width="640" height="427" alt="Cross Stitch_20150118_166-1"></a><br />
<br />
I bought the full kit for both of them. I'm hoping to do the Love Birds one for my husband for V-Day. <br />
<br />
I also have some progress (this was as of Sunday afternoon), Plum Pudding:<br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/15698751363" title="Cross Stitch_20150118_174-1 by xStitchHaven, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7583/15698751363_c2d1487e11_z.jpg" width="640" height="427" alt="Cross Stitch_20150118_174-1"></a><br />
<br />
and Winter Wishes:<br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/16131078368" title="Cross Stitch_20150118_170-1 by xStitchHaven, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7571/16131078368_bb7aed3c84_z.jpg" width="640" height="427" alt="Cross Stitch_20150118_170-1"></a><br />
<br />
I also purchased a LOWERY STAND. I'm so excited. It arrived Wednesday last week so I've been using it with Plum Pudding and trying out two handed stitching. It's been going well as long as I pick up the correct color. Whoops! I'll try to do a review for everyone if they are interested after I've used it more than a week. <br />
<br />
Does any one else use a needlework stand? Brenda Ahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15734755541973441763noreply@blogger.com11tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4473461944378377627.post-47263497090474879092015-01-15T06:15:00.000-05:002015-01-15T06:15:00.043-05:00Glendon Place SAL - IHi everyone, two posts in one week! Pretty good for me!<br />
<br />
This is going to be my first post of the Glendon Place SAL that I am hosting along with <a href="http://neilteil.blogspot.com/">Neil</a>. You have until tonight at midnight (or until whenever tomorrow I remember to take it down) to sign up <a href="http://www.xstitchhaven.com/p/glendon-place-sal.html">here</a> and you'll be able to get caught up on all the rules. There are current 9 links up, 7 blogs, one Instagram (#gpsal) and the cross stitch forum has 6 members participating. It's not limited to people with blogs only. I am quite active on both Instagram (@xstitchhaven) and the cross stitch forum so I thought I would open it up to everyone! The same rules about posting progress still apply.<br />
<br />
I will be working on <a href="http://glendonplace.net/shop/generalyear-around/plum-pudding/">Plum Pudding</a>. This is not the first Glendon Place Amazing Dessert that I've started, if you've been following me for a bit you'll know I started with <a href="http://glendonplace.net/shop/generalyear-around/tiramisu/">Tiramisu</a> in 2014. I have not finished it yet <a href="https://flic.kr/p/qECNi5">(clicky for last update photo)</a>, but because there was interest in starting a stitch a-long I took the plunge and started another one! I have already decided on a third too (but I"m going to change the colors to shades of teal instead of what is charted).<br />
<br />
Here's a picture of my supplies that I bought myself for Christmas:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/15945006459" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Cross Stitch_20141227_076-1.jpg by xStitchHaven, on Flickr"><img alt="Cross Stitch_20141227_076-1.jpg" height="266" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7564/15945006459_e77f2f2fd1_c.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I am stitching this on 28 count Antique White Lugana. I choose to do it on white instead of a hand dyed fabric like the Tiramisu project of mine because every single picture I've seen of this completed it has looked washed out and I really wanted the purple colors to stand out.<br />
<br />
I decided to start January 1 and here's my progress so far:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/15654982843" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Cross Stitch_20150111_150-1 by xStitchHaven, on Flickr"><img alt="Cross Stitch_20150111_150-1" height="266" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7486/15654982843_7d9cfe45e4_k.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I've already had to frog (rip out stitches) which is very sad. I try really hard not to have to do it with silks, but sometimes it's unavoidable. It was over a block of color that had a page change and I didn't follow through correctly, I thought it was a bit lower than it was. At least I noticed before I moved on to other blocks I suppose! Be careful with page changes everyone! ;)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/16088746909" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Cross Stitch_20150111_148-1 by xStitchHaven, on Flickr"><img alt="Cross Stitch_20150111_148-1" height="266" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7504/16088746909_5860a2ef10_z.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
There are only 4 required posts throughout 2015 for this SAL, but I am 100% sure I will be posting regular updates throughout the year. I am easily distracted so even right now I have 3 projects in Q-Snaps. Since there are 6 total pages to the pattern, my goal is one page every other month. I think that'll be sufficient for my "easily distracted self" to keep on task and not totally put it away in favor of another project, as happened to Tiramisu.<br />
<br />
Once you've updated your blog, post a link in the comments below so everyone can go find yours!Brenda Ahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15734755541973441763noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4473461944378377627.post-42890134745412063232015-01-14T06:10:00.000-05:002015-01-14T06:10:00.050-05:00Updates and a New StartHope everyone's January is going well. This should be a semi-quick update.<br />
<br />
I've been working on the Glendon Place's Plum Pudding, here's were I'm at as of Sunday.<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
I ended up needing to do some frogging because one of the blocks was over a page change. At least I noticed before I went ahead and did a bunch more! Plus one for me!<br />
<br />
I started this cute Lizzie Kate pattern, Winter Wishes. I like to have something small that I can take with me places, like the sofa, to the chair, over to the bed. You know how it is.<br />
<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Lizzie Kate - Winter Wishes</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
No firm plans on what I'll do with it when it's finished though. Maybe I'll try my hand at another flat fold! I made a 123stitch order and in it will hopefully be a snowflake charm it put on the little house. The Lizzie Kate one was $11! Instead I bought the Mill Hill version where I got 4 snowflake charms for like, $4. Hopefully they'll be a good size!<br />
<br />
Also, my friend came over and we exchanged Christmas presents. She made me this awesome pillow with my last name on it. She crocheted the white background then cross stitched the purple. Isn't it super nifty?!?! I love it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I think that's it for today! I'll be back tomorrow with a Glendon Place specific update. :)<br />
<br />

<br />
I'm starting off the year strong. My last start of 2014 turned into my first finish of 2015! I decided to cross off one ornament on my long list (which can be found <a href="http://www.xstitchhaven.com/p/ornament-month.html">here</a>), Peppermint Latte by Casey Buonaugurio Designs (you can find it in the 2010 Just Cross Stitch Ornament Issue).<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/15595805803" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Cross Stitch_20150102_117-1 by xStitchHaven, on Flickr"><img alt="Cross Stitch_20150102_117-1" height="640" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7527/15595805803_2ccd79d98a_k.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/15595809193" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Cross Stitch_20150106_105-1 by xStitchHaven, on Flickr"><img alt="Cross Stitch_20150106_105-1" height="640" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7473/15595809193_4183f96daa_k.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
It was done on a mystery piece of pink linen. After I took the first two pictures I realized that I forgot the bottom line, so the final picture has that! I like how it turned out! I'm going to add it to my to-be-finished pile (there's only 3 pieces there right now). I would like to go find some fabric for it, I don't really have anything suitable in my stash.<br />
<br />
I tok one final picture of my Tirasmu before putting it away for my Plum Pudding start:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/16189769046" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Cross Stitch_20141231_134-1 by xStitchHaven, on Flickr"><img alt="Cross Stitch_20141231_134-1" height="403" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7564/16189769046_ede074173c_k.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I started my Plum Pudding by Glendon Place for the SAL that Neil and I are hosting (you can still sign up <a href="http://www.xstitchhaven.com/p/glendon-place-sal.html">here</a>).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/16028144668" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Cross Stitch_20150106_093-1 by xStitchHaven, on Flickr"><img alt="Cross Stitch_20150106_093-1" height="469" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7540/16028144668_e3acf22061_k.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I was debating back and forth on the fabric choice. My Tiramisu project is on Jazlyn and has a much thicker weave to it, while this Lugana is very open. I was thinking that they would look weird side by side, but, who knows if I'll even be displaying them side by side, so I'm going to keep on with this. It'll be the same dimensions anyway. Which is what I actually cared about. The colors are so difficult to photograph. They are totally dependent on the lighting, and it's been gray clouds here for days, and probably won't let up until March!<br />
<br />
I have also borrowed some hardanger books from the library. I thought it would be fun to try! Here's the books I got:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/16213778371" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Cross Stitch_20150106_092-1 by xStitchHaven, on Flickr"><img alt="Cross Stitch_20150106_092-1" height="640" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7568/16213778371_3907f070c1_k.jpg" width="461" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
And here are my first two designs. Let's not talk about the counting mistakes I made on the kosher blocks that I didn't notice until way later (the white bits)... I think it's pretty fun and I am going to order some Caron Waterlilies threads (the ones that are equivalent to the DMC perles, I keep forgetting their names) to have fun with.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/16029546239" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Cross Stitch_20150106_089-1 by xStitchHaven, on Flickr"><img alt="Cross Stitch_20150106_089-1" height="374" src="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8615/16029546239_7342fa5378_k.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
The JoAnn's near me really didn't have <i>any</i> options, so I got 2 purples, one green and white to start off with, I've found a few patterns I like so I'm thinking I'll start with the non-cut work ones and then try some cutting too.<br />
<br />
That's it for today! Anyone else starting off into new hobbies for the new year?Brenda Ahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15734755541973441763noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4473461944378377627.post-57107345458942375742014-12-31T06:30:00.000-05:002014-12-31T06:30:00.065-05:00Goodbye 2014This will be my last post of 2014 (clearly). The year went so quickly! I'm almost at my 1 year blogger mark which is quite exciting! I think I'm going to host a giveaway in honor of that! Stay tuned late January for details. :) <br />
<br />
I have still been busy stitching up a storm. Okay, not really a storm, but stitching yes! I did not start the Bent Creek Wedding Row like I was hoping. I know what floss I want to use, but I'm having issues with what fabric to use and it's an awkward size, which means I probably need to order something, or change the floss colors. I don't know yet. <br />
<br />
I managed one more ornament finish before the end of the year:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/16105300906" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Cross Stitch_20141228_082-1.jpg by xStitchHaven, on Flickr"><img alt="Cross Stitch_20141228_082-1.jpg" height="426" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7539/16105300906_067c9e6066_k.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
It's called Reindeer Cheer from The Cross Stitcher magazine November 2014. I added some Krenik blending filament to the snow/star things in the sky. It looks pretty! I'm still debating on giving it away or keeping it. :) I did sign it 2014, so if I give it away it'll have to be soon. :) <br />
<br />
Here it is with the Grumpy Cat ornament:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img alt="Cross Stitch_20141228_085-1.jpg" height="426" src="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8675/15508758354_545f770459_k.jpg" width="640" /> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The fabric didn't really photograph well, that's what happens in the winter months I suppose. It's really a light blue, but looks gray in the photos. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We retrieved our blown glass ornaments, which I may or may not have mentioned last post. My husband purchased the class for my birthday back in October! It was a long wait, but totally worth it. We ended up making 3 ornaments: </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<br />
I think my husband's turned out the best! I suggested the colors, so I'm going to take some credit too. ;) <br />
<br />
I got all my supplies for my Plum Pudding for my & Neil's <a href="http://www.xstitchhaven.com/p/glendon-place-sal.html">Glendon Place SAL</a>. There is still time to sign up!!! It's open until the week January 15th, which is when your first posting is due (around the 15th). Your first post can just be telling everyone what you're going to work on. No progress is required! :) <br />
<br />
Here are two "artsy" shots of the floss:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/15511361273" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Cross Stitch_20141227_075-1.jpg by xStitchHaven, on Flickr"><img alt="Cross Stitch_20141227_075-1.jpg" height="640" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7526/15511361273_4a158c8bf4_k.jpg" width="460" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/15945006459" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Cross Stitch_20141227_076-1.jpg by xStitchHaven, on Flickr"><img alt="Cross Stitch_20141227_076-1.jpg" height="426" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7564/15945006459_35c7e37df8_k.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I decided to go with "Antique White" 28 count Lugana. I really wanted the threads to stand out, and every single picture I've seen has looked a little washed out. I was talking with a gal on Instagram who choose to do it on white and it looked nice, so I decided to go a similar route. <br />
<br />
I got some treats for Christmas! I got a Mirabilla chart (which of course I didn't take a picture of) called Shakespeare's Faires. It has <u>soo</u> many beads in it! Someday I'll get around to it, I don't think 2015 is it's year though. My husband also got me a digital subscription to The Cross Stitcher. :) AND past issues were only $0.99 so I bought several. <br />
<br />
I also got a tacky bead bob (I purchased that dot fabric though):<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/15508754904" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Cross Stitch_20141228_080-1.jpg by xStitchHaven, on Flickr"><img alt="Cross Stitch_20141228_080-1.jpg" height="426" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7492/15508754904_0d7cd18026_k.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
And some bead storage containers!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/15945008509" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Cross Stitch_20141228_077-1.jpg by xStitchHaven, on Flickr"><img alt="Cross Stitch_20141228_077-1.jpg" height="426" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7570/15945008509_879b6f736d_k.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
There's a lot of room to grow in the storage container though. I think that's a good thing! I had fun searching around for all of my packages to put in there. I realized I had purchased a green twice! ;)<br />
<br />
I've started making a dent in my to stitch ornament list as well! I started Peppermint Latte by Casey Buonaugurio Designs from the 2010 Just Cross Stitch Ornament issue on Sunday. I'm hoping it'll be my first finish of 2015! It's pretty small and I'm just speeding along with it. I might be able to squeeze it in this year, but I'd rather hold off for next year, boost my finishes early. ;) ;) <span style="color: #351c75;"></span><br />
<br />
I think that's all of my stitchy news for now! Did anyone else get some stitchy related presents?!?<br />
<br />Brenda Ahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15734755541973441763noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4473461944378377627.post-55194111745979149072014-12-24T10:30:00.000-05:002014-12-24T10:30:02.018-05:00Merry Christmas Eve!Hello everyone! And Merry Christmas Eve (or merry Wednesday!) to you & your loved ones.<br />
<br />
We've been pretty busy, Sunday was my husband's aunt's Christmas dinner. He's got 3 little cousins now and they are always quite entertaining. I ate too much, per usual. It's so easy to do when the food is amazing! :)<br />
<br />
Tonight we're going to my in-laws house for presents and dinner. Then tomorrow we're going to my aunt's for dinner and I'm having my parents over to view Japan vacation pictures (I'll post some soon, I promise!) and eat some desserts. THEN on Friday we've got a surprise party to go to. It's a never ending busy schedule. Well, ok, it's over after that and hopefully no longer busy.<br />
<br />
We finally made NYE plans. We usually stay home on the sofa. I cross stitch, he plays video games. Well we were going to go to this great restaurant for our anniversary (Jan 5th, we went last year and loved it) but they will be closed for January. But they are having a pre-fixed menu for NYE. And they are BYOB! Score! It's pretty expensive, but we're going to say it's for our anniversary too. That makes it better... I think!<br />
<br />
I finished my co-workers ornament at about 8 o'clock on Sunday to give to her on Monday and she decided to work from home on Monday! I gave her a hard time, but she did come in on Tuesday so I was able to give it to her, I barely left enough room between the two designs on the fabric to cut them out, but I think he turned out super cute! Sorry, no back pictures. I didn't think about it!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/15471628343" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Cross Stitch_20141221_046-1.jpg by xStitchHaven, on Flickr"><img alt="Cross Stitch_20141221_046-1.jpg" height="640" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7502/15471628343_f9a5e43df2_k.jpg" width="377" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Right after this, I ran out of bobbin thread and couldn't get the silly thing out, so I'm waiting until tomorrow when my mom is coming over to help me out and finish my second finish of the week. I'm still new with this whole sewing machine thing! I did also manage to finish the presents one, but I'm not sure if the mom reads my blog or not, so I'll be safe and not post it until next week. <br />
<br />
I managed to finish stitching a grumpy cat ornament:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/15469020544" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Cross Stitch_20141223_050-1 by xStitchHaven, on Flickr"><img alt="Cross Stitch_20141223_050-1" height="640" src="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8680/15469020544_cdd9c239da_k.jpg" width="425" /></a></div>
<br />
You can't really tell from the picture, but I used wisper thread for the hat to make it fluffy, DMC light effects for the star & some blending filament for the snow flakes in the sky. It's quite nice in real life. <br />
<br />
I think my next project will be for our 2nd anniversary, it's cotton, so a stitched piece totally makes sense. I'm going to do "Wedding Row" by Bent Creek. I'm thinking about using my two favorite Weeks threads, peacock & taffeta. Which are almost our wedding colors. It won't be a secret since I do all my stitching with him sitting on the sofa beside me.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/16065543856" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="Christmas Tree_20141217_036-1-5 by xStitchHaven, on Flickr"><img alt="Christmas Tree_20141217_036-1-5" height="640" src="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8603/16065543856_8393b1aff3_k.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I was messing around with our fancy camera and took a some what pretty Christmas tree picture that I'll leave you off with today! Enjoy the day everyone! May your day be merry & bright!Brenda Ahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15734755541973441763noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4473461944378377627.post-5808862511487096392014-12-17T10:30:00.000-05:002014-12-17T20:43:31.699-05:00Finish & Christmas DecorHi all! I managed to do some stitching while also putting up some Christmas decorations. Since we were out of town for half of November we didn't get started as early as usual and because of that I only put up like half of our stuff. We have a Christmas village set that isn't going to make it out this year. It takes an entire day to put it up and I just don't have the time this year. It seems like an every other year type of thing!<br>
<br>
Here are some decor pictures:<br>
<br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/16042340902" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="CrossStitch_20141217_010-1.jpg by xStitchHaven, on Flickr"><img alt="CrossStitch_20141217_010-1.jpg" height="496" src="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8647/16042340902_7b9d984a4f_k.jpg" width="640"></a></div>

<br>
<br>
My mother in law gave us these adorable mini wooden Christmas ornaments. I had to go buy a little tree for them. My husband was trying to convince me that this tree should be just for cross stitched ornaments, but, I don't have enough for it's own tree yet and I think this tree is too little. :D <br>
<br>
I managed to get my Fleur de Lys Tree by Scissor Tail Designs finished! I really want to get a frame for it,. Some things just scream frame me, and I think this is one of them. I think it'll fit in a 5x7 frame so I'm going to try to get out to a TJ Maxx. I'm thinking an antique white frame? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!<br>

I really want to get more ornaments completed next year, so I started a blog page just for that. The goal is 12 (one a month) but I listed out a ton so there would be options for me to choose from. You check it out over <a href="http://www.xstitchhaven.com/p/ornament-month.html">here</a>!<br>
<br>
I would also like to get some other projects finished (like both of my Glendon Place patterns (Plum Pudding & Tiramisu), my Chatelaine (Mini Mandala VI), and my Halloween Black cat). Does anyone else think I'm a crazy person? I bet if I tried I could finish it all, but I get distracted easily by new patterns... Oh and I have a collection of mugs that I want to stitch up. So many patterns so little stitchy time!<br>
<br>
Quick reminder about the <a href="http://www.xstitchhaven.com/p/glendon-place-sal.html">Glendon Place SAL</a>! You don't have to start stitching, but you will need a post about what you're going to work on the week of January 15th. You have until then to decide! Let all your friends know! The more participation the more exciting it will be! <br>
<br>
How is everyone else enjoying December? Have you tried to make stitchy goals for 2015?Brenda Ahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15734755541973441763noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4473461944378377627.post-53340500444440079332014-12-09T10:30:00.000-05:002014-12-09T10:30:00.082-05:00Back from JapanHello lovelies! I'm back from Japan and have finally gotten over the jet lag from the return trip. They are 14 hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time and wow did I feel every minute of that on our return trip. I've slept so much in the last week since we got back it's crazy! I managed to pick up a cold while we were there too so I'm pretty sure that did not help the situation at all.<br />
<br />
I <i>thought </i>I was going to get some small stitching done. Nope. Not one stitch was put in. However I did manage to read 4 books and start another. Yes. 4 while on vacation. It was so much easier to just pick up my kindle rather than take out all my stitching. In case anyone was wondering I read the following:<br />
<ol>
<li>Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng</li>
<li>The Winter People by Rebekah Purdy (I got the wrong book, I meant to read, The Winter People by Jennifer McMahon, whoops)</li>
<li>The House We Grew Up In by Lisa Jewell</li>
<li>The Girls With All the Gifts by M. R. Carey</li>
<li>Bird Box by Josh Malerman</li>
</ol>
<div>
I found all of these by looking at Goodreads.com's "Best Books of 2014." I liked some more than others, but I didn't put any of them down after the first couple pages, which I will do if I'm not into a book, there are too many books to read and I'd rather not waste time on one I don't care for. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
While I was away, my "Stashmas" gift came in the mail. I belong to a group that does an exchange every year called Stashmas. I was <i>terrible </i>and my gift didn't get sent out until I got home. Basically I ordered a big order from a new to me company and it never arrived. Now I'm dealing with my credit card company trying to get my money back. I am so disappointed. I had heard good things about them from the stitching community and my husband ordered from them for my birthday and had no issues. I've been emailing them and getting no responses. I ordered on October 7th so you would think that 2 months would be sufficient time but apparently not. I think I was in such a rush to mail out the gift of mine that I didn't even talk a picture. I had ended up ordering replacements from 123stitch.com because they have never let me down. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Here's what I got: </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://imgur.com/mgCV0ZV" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="http://i.imgur.com/mgCV0ZVl.jpg" height="225" title="source: imgur.com" width="400" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I'm a huge Little House Needleworks fan and I have had this on my wish list for awhile! She also sent me the two skeins of overdyed floss and the button that goes in the middle!!! I love it and I cannot wait to stitch it. It's probably going to have to wait until 2015 though.She also sent over an adorable ornament! <br />
<br />
I am almost done with the second little bear, I've ran out of motivation for him. How silly because he's soooo close now!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/15982974702" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="CrossStitch_20141209_005-1 by D & E Wedding, on Flickr"><img alt="CrossStitch_20141209_005-1" height="266" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7473/15982974702_64029d19c7_k.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I started a new project that I am hoping to complete by Christmas. It's going quite well so far. I might be able to make it twice! It's Fleur de Lys Tree by ScissorTail Designs. I'm using Dinky Dyes, Evergreen. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/15957866726" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="CrossStitch_20141209_006-2 by D & E Wedding, on Flickr"><img alt="CrossStitch_20141209_006-2" height="313" src="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8603/15957866726_d4f2780eb2_k.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
While in Japan I stopped at a store called Yuzawaya (<a href="http://www.yuzawaya.co.jp/">www.yuzawaya.co.jp</a> Japanese only) and picked up a bunch of Cosmo floss and a biscornu.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/15796174180" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="CrossStitch_20141209_015-8 by D & E Wedding, on Flickr"><img alt="CrossStitch_20141209_015-8" height="400" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7576/15796174180_b651a2ca61_n.jpg" width="335" /></a></div>
<br />
The store was like a JoAnn Fabrics, with less fabric and more crafty supplies. It was on the 7th floor of a department store type building. I would call it a mall, there are <i>so</i> many malls in Japan. SO many! It was a little hard to find, mostly because we don't speak Japanese and we went on our first day there. I don't have any pictures from inside, I clearly wasn't thinking about blog posts while I was there. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/15363830803" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="CrossStitch_20141209_014-7 by D & E Wedding, on Flickr"><img alt="CrossStitch_20141209_014-7" height="241" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7559/15363830803_4737b75bbb_n.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
They had DMC, Cosmo and Olympus (I bought some coral colors of this, I'd never heard of it). They didn't really have very many kits or anything though. The biscornu kit is from Cosmo as well though. I thought it was cute! They had tons of cute needle felted animals too. I probably could have bought the entire store, but it was day one and I didn't want to lug everything around in my suitcase. We tried to keep all of our shopping until the end which is only kinda a good idea.<br />
<br />
I was also able to find a Japanese needlearts magazine at a bookstore attached to a subway stop, <br />
<span style="font-weight: normal;"><span id="lblTitle_ctl"><span id="lblTitle">Stitch Idées</span></span></span>: <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/15981456191" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="CrossStitch_20141209_007-3 by D & E Wedding, on Flickr"><img alt="CrossStitch_20141209_007-3" height="400" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7530/15981456191_41a8a358ef_n.jpg" width="285" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
It's filled with tons of cool ideas, I'm kinda in love with these little pin cushions.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/15957679206" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="CrossStitch_20141209_009-4 by D & E Wedding, on Flickr"><img alt="CrossStitch_20141209_009-4" height="221" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7563/15957679206_bbde9d5e13_n.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
And there are some Christmas designs.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/15796171750" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="CrossStitch_20141209_011-5 by D & E Wedding, on Flickr"><img alt="CrossStitch_20141209_011-5" height="266" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7549/15796171750_3face29960_n.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
The charts are all pull out ones. It's different, but the quality of this magazine is amazing. It's like a book with the paper quality. I need to find all of them now! ;) It was only 1,200 yen which according to today's exchange rate, $9.92 (usd). All the ones I can find on eBay are about $17 + shipping from Japan. Not as awesome. I should totally have done more shopping while there (maybe seek out a used bookstore or two)! I suppose this just gives me another reason to go back!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/15363829513" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="CrossStitch_20141209_013-6 by D & E Wedding, on Flickr"><img alt="CrossStitch_20141209_013-6" height="400" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7495/15363829513_67cc93d28a_n.jpg" width="266" /></a></div>
<br />
Also, last, but not least by any means, I received a RAK (random act of kindness) from Andrea over at her blog, <a href="http://thecraftroom.blogspot.com/">The Craft Room</a>:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/15363825313" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="CrossStitch_20141206_005-1 by D & E Wedding, on Flickr"><img alt="CrossStitch_20141206_005-1" height="266" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7475/15363825313_a3f3ab9bb3_n.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
Isn't it beautiful?!?! I'm so excited, the finishing is so lovely and the pattern is awesome! I love how there's snow on top of the letters too. What a cool detail! Thanks so much Andrea! It's going to look awesome on my tree... as soon as I put it up! I seriously <i>just </i>took my Halloween decorations down this weekend. I mean, I <i>was </i>gone for half of November... I heard she also MADE the card that it came with!!! That's so awesome and I love it too!<br />
<br />
Oh and check out the back, how cute!!! I have these little charms, but I haven't used them yet. :)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/d_e_wedding/15957677406" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" title="CrossStitch_20141206_006-2 by D & E Wedding, on Flickr"><img alt="CrossStitch_20141206_006-2" height="266" src="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8651/15957677406_40c69c5dc7_n.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
Another awesome thing that I learned since my last post, there is a community stitchy group here in my home town! I had run across someone's blog who was talking about this great framing shop she found and I emailed her about it (it's actually the framing shop I past almost weekly, I had even told my husband I should try it, how awesome is that?) and she mentioned a stitchy group that meets every Friday! I've been too busy lately, but I think once January rolls around I'll be able to attend. I'm really excited!<br />
<br />
This has turned into a rambly post. I think I'm going to close off here for today. I am hoping to go through my vacation pictures soon and might post some next week for everyone! </div>

<span style="line-height: 18.2000007629395px;">Back again with another Show Your Stash from <a href="http://stitchbitch.blogspot.com/2014/10/show-your-stash-patterns.html">Anna</a>. This is from an old post (mid-October), but I thought it would be a great filler to use while I'm on vacation! </span><span style="font-family: inherit; line-height: 17.25pt;"><b><br /></b></span><span style="font-family: inherit; line-height: 17.25pt;"><b><br /></b></span></div>
<div style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; margin-top: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: inherit; line-height: 17.25pt;"><b>When you shop for patterns, do you buy on impulse or do you buy only what you need?</b><b> </b> </span><span style="line-height: 17.25pt;"> Umm, what is this word "need" being used. I impulse by patterns. I can't go into a LNS without buying </span><i style="line-height: 17.25pt;">something</i><span style="line-height: 17.25pt;"> (which is usually floss, but sometimes a pattern).</span><br />
<b style="font-family: inherit; line-height: 17.25pt;"><br /></b></div>
<div style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; margin-top: 0in;">
<b style="font-family: inherit; line-height: 17.25pt;">How do you sort your patterns—by designer? theme? Season?</b><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="line-height: 17.25pt;"> Sort patterns? Funny. I "sort" mine by size. Example, small Lizzie Kate's live in my sewing box in a specific tier, but full sized patterns live at the bottom or in some IKEA </span></span><span style="line-height: 23px;">furniture</span><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="line-height: 17.25pt;"> we have. </span></span><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="line-height: 17.25pt;">I've been meaning to </span></span><span style="line-height: 23px;">get</span><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="line-height: 17.25pt;"> some page protectors and put them into the 8 million 3 ring binders I own thanks to studying for actuarial exams. I bought the protectors, but still have made 0 progess on this goal. </span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit; line-height: 17.25pt;"><b><br /></b></span></div>
<div style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; margin-top: 0in;">
<b style="font-family: inherit; line-height: 17.25pt;">How do you store your patterns?</b><b style="font-family: inherit; line-height: 17.25pt;"> </b><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="line-height: 17.25pt;">I guess I answered this above! The majority of my patterns are in my sewing box that I found at a local junk store, but all the over sized ones are in my Ikea cubbies. I stitch by scanning them into my iPad, so I don't </span></span><span style="line-height: 23px;">really</span><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="line-height: 17.25pt;"> need to have it on hand any time after that so they get stuck in various places. </span></span><br />
<span style="line-height: 17.25pt;"><b><br /></b></span></div>
<div style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; margin-top: 0in;">
<span style="line-height: 17.25pt;"><b>Which designer do you own the most patterns by?</b> Probably Little House Needleworks or Lizzie Kate. I'm a smalls fan, and they both design tons of cute smalls. </span></div>
<div style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; margin-top: 0in;">
<b style="font-family: inherit; line-height: 17.25pt;"><br /></b></div>
<div style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; margin-top: 0in;">
<b style="font-family: inherit; line-height: 17.25pt;">Which designer have you stitched the most patterns by?</b><span style="font-family: inherit; line-height: 17.25pt;"> Hmm, I think it's a pretty close tie... between LHN and L*K with maybe Lizzie Kate for the </span><i style="font-family: inherit; line-height: 17.25pt;">slight</i><span style="font-family: inherit; line-height: 17.25pt;"> edge. Mostly ornaments. </span></div>
<div style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; margin-top: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; margin-top: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: inherit; line-height: 17.25pt;"><b>What tips do you have for building up a well-rounded stash?</b><b> </b>This is more difficult, I have many many magazines that I purchased at a book sale one time, so I guess, don't restrain yourself if everything is a quarter! </span></div>
<div style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; margin-top: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: inherit; line-height: 17.25pt;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; margin-top: 0in;">
<span style="line-height: 17.25pt;"><b>When do you say enough is enough?</b> When you have no room left? Or when you start buying the same pattern more than once? This is a personal decision. </span></div>
<div style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; margin-top: 0in;">
<span style="line-height: 17.25pt;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; margin-top: 0in;">
<b style="font-family: inherit; line-height: 17.25pt;">How do you whittle your stash down when it's gotten too large?</b><span style="font-family: inherit; line-height: 17.25pt;"> Giveaways! There's probably someone who would also love what you love! </span><span style="line-height: 17.25pt;"><b><br /></b></span></div>
<div style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; margin-top: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: inherit; line-height: 17.25pt;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; margin-top: 0in;">
<b style="line-height: 17.25pt;">Do you have a current favorite in your stash? Let’s see it!</b><span style="line-height: 17.25pt;"> My current favorite is probably Plum Pudding by Glendon Place. I don't know why I didn't start it first (I'm currently working on </span><span style="line-height: 23px;">Tiramisu</span><span style="line-height: 17.25pt;">), but it's my favorite at the moment.</span><br />

I'm back again for MMMM (Mega Mini Madness Month) hosted in November by Justine!<br />
<br />
I was hoping to complete this little guy's buddy by today, but it looks like I wasn't quite there. I am really close though!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uOEVz9-FjjY/VGPl5UMhydI/AAAAAAAAAeM/UuxjrdjVnmQ/s1600/2014-11-12%2B17.42.32-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uOEVz9-FjjY/VGPl5UMhydI/AAAAAAAAAeM/UuxjrdjVnmQ/s400/2014-11-12%2B17.42.32-1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I'm bring him on vacation with me and also two patterns from Cross Stitcher magazine, I can't remember which issue right now, but it's these adorable little deer. I'm going to make two of them on this same light blue fabric!<br />
<br />
I have a 14 hour flight (hopefully sleeping) and at least one 5 hour train ride, so I'm hoping to get Mr. Presents done and hopefully a lot of one of the deer. I also am bringing a Little House Needleworks design just in case. I scanned everything into my iPad, so it's not like, taking up room or anything!<br />
<br />
